Biography

Early Life

Kamala Khan grew up in New Jersey as the daughter of a conservative Pakistani family, learning to reconcile her family's traditions with American culture. At school, her friends, particularly Nakia and Bruno, knew her as an exceptionally talented student, gifted in literature and art while showing considerably less enthusiasm for science. More than anything else, however, Kamala was obsessed with superheroes.

Long before becoming one herself, Kamala built a significant online presence under the username "Miss Marvel." Across multiple social media platforms she became well known for publishing superhero fan art, reviews of licensed merchandise, and, above all, stories set within her own fan-fiction continuity known as the "Marvell Universe," a fictional setting centered around her idol, Major Marvel. As her audience continued to grow, Kamala became one of the internet's most recognizable voices within superhero fandom. Looking back, however, she has come to regret some of the political opinions she publicly expressed during the debates surrounding the Registration Act, even if Major Marvel herself remains her greatest inspiration.

Everything changed during a school camping trip when a mysterious phenomenon later called The Mist engulfed the surrounding area. While the students remained stranded inside their cabin for several days, Kamala experienced something entirely different. The fog pulled her beneath the earth, trapping her inside a strange biological cocoon for nearly two days before she eventually emerged. Her disappearance terrified both her family and her classmates, and although Kamala claimed she had merely become separated from the group, the experience left such an impression that her parents insisted she would never participate in another school trip again.

As conspiracy theories spread across the internet about the so-called "emerged ones"—people who disappeared during The Mist before returning seemingly changed—Kamala already knew the truth. Following her emergence, she discovered that her body had transformed completely. She could now stretch, compress, enlarge, harden, and reshape herself at will, possessing extraordinary Inhuman abilities that ignored the normal laws of biology and physics.

THE NEW ERA OF YONG HEROES

After gaining her powers, Kamala searched online for others who had undergone similar transformations. Through the small community r/YoungHeroes, she met several teenagers who had also begun operating as vigilantes: a Hulk enthusiast who recreated the gamma experiment, a young Brooklyn hero empowered by a mysterious spider, a girl who discovered the helmet of a forgotten cosmic champion, a homeless cyborg searching for purpose, and a student from Xavier's School who rejected his school's political neutrality regarding the Registration Act.

Realizing that none of them truly belonged in the world of established heroes, Kamala brought them together by creating a private Telegram group called the Champions. What began as an online chat quickly evolved into the foundation of a new generation of superheroes—young people determined to define heroism on their own terms while navigating a world increasingly divided over the place of masked
