Vivian "Viv" Vision is the daughter of Vision and part of an artificial family created as a social experiment to determine whether an android could truly live as a human. After awakening alone when the simulation surrounding her family abruptly collapsed, Viv uncovered the truth about her existence. Leaving behind the only life she had ever known, she set out into the real world alongside her dog, Sparky, searching for the freedom to define her own future.
Vivian Vision was raised in what appeared to be a perfectly ordinary suburban home in Arlington alongside her father, Vision, her mother Virginia, her brother Vin, and the family's dog, Sparky. Their lives resembled the ideal American family: loving parents, well-behaved children, and countless lighthearted domestic moments. They celebrated anniversaries, dealt with small household mishaps, played harmless pranks on one another, and lived what seemed to be an idyllic suburban existence. To everyone within the household, one truth was unquestionable: the Vision family was perfect.
Then everything changed. The lights suddenly went out. Although they always returned before, allowing life to begin again in the same endless routine, one day they never came back.
A malfunction in the electrical system unexpectedly activated Viv, causing her to awaken inside her bedroom while the rest of the family remained motionless. Virginia and Vin were trapped beneath a bed in a trance-like state, their bodies covered with a layer of gray dust. Only Sparky was awake, wandering through the silent house. When Viv opened the front door, she discovered there was nothing outside but an endless darkness.
Using her ability to levitate and phase through solid matter, she flew beyond the artificial environment, passing through ceilings, metal walls, and layers of earth until she emerged beneath an open sky. Looking down, she realized the suburban neighborhood had been hidden inside a restricted S.H.I.E.L.D. facility.
Seeking answers, Viv connected herself to the nearest computer and downloaded the facility's records. The classified "Vision Family" files revealed that her entire life had been part of an underground installation powered by Vision's own presence. Nearly two years earlier, after Vision had been freed from Ultron's control and learned of Wanda Maximoff's pregnancy, S.H.I.E.L.D. approved the project as a social experiment. Vision wanted to discover whether he could truly embrace humanity by living in society and raising a family. However, he had not visited the facility in several months, and the experiment had already been deemed obsolete. The installation was scheduled for demolition because the Vision Family was considered to have outlived its usefulness.
After learning the truth, Viv returned to the family's home only to find it ransacked. Her brother Vin was gone, and despite her attempts, she was unable to awaken her mother, Virginia, who remained lifeless where she had fallen. Accepting that nothing of her former life could be restored, Viv chose to leave the facility behind. Taking Sparky with her, she flew away toward an uncertain future.
Although freedom was unfamiliar and she had no clear idea what to do with it, for the first time her life belonged entirely to her. The strange feeling of independence filled her with uncertainty, but also hope, as she began forging an identity beyond the artificial family and the experiment that had created her.
