ALL-NEW CYCLOPS (earth-7)

Natsu Tsukishima is a young mutant whose optic blast abilities first manifested through violent emotional outbursts, shattering the quiet life she once shared with her mother. Manipulated by the organization known as the Hand after a tragic accident destroyed her family, she is sent to Xavier's Institute under false pretenses, becoming an unwilling agent in a conspiracy targeting Scott Summers.

Biography

Early Life

Natsu Tsukishima spent her childhood with her mother in the town of Kirisaki, where the two lived a quiet, well-organized life made possible by their financial stability. As she entered puberty, however, everything changed. Their once-close relationship became increasingly strained as Natsu began suffering uncontrollable bursts of rage that manifested as devastating optic blasts. She desperately tried to hide her mutation, but concealing it became impossible after one of her outbursts destroyed the roof of her own bedroom.

Unable to understand or control her daughter's mutant nature, Natsu's mother grew increasingly desperate and eventually withdrew her from school. During a meeting with school officials, she was approached by Kenuichio Harada, a mutant and member of the humanitarian organization known as the Hand. Harada explained that the organization had recently founded a private academy for young mutants called the "Children of the Atom," located in a remote part of Japan.

Although Mrs. Tsukishima initially refused the offer because she believed she could never afford a private education, Harada assured her that the school would actually pay to have Natsu attend. Believing it was the best opportunity her daughter would ever receive, she accepted the proposal.

When Natsu learned of the transfer the following day, she was horrified. Terrified of being isolated from everything she knew and of being exposed as a mutant, all she could think about was escaping. Ignoring her mother's pleas, she rushed toward the front door in an attempt to run away, only to collide with the school officials who had arrived to escort her. As they restrained her, her mother tearfully tried to reassure her that the arrangement was temporary, that she would be safe, well cared for, and that they would stay in contact because this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity they could not let pass.

Overcome by hatred, fear, and betrayal, Natsu screamed "No!" as one final optic blast erupted from her eyes. The uncontrollable attack engulfed her mother in flames, killing her instantly. Frozen in complete shock over what she had done, Natsu was unable to resist as the agents secured her inside their transport vehicle and fitted her with mutant suppression collars.

During the journey, her grief transformed into violent self-destruction. She repeatedly slammed her head against the vehicle's windows, trying to silence both her powers and the unbearable guilt consuming her. By the time the transport reached its destination, she was physically exhausted, emotionally broken, and had blood covering part of her face.

When the vehicle doors opened, Natsu found herself standing before two men. The first was Kenuichio Harada, who proudly informed the other that he had finally found the mutant they had been searching for. The second introduced himself as Nathaniel Essex. He explained that Natsu would accompany him to the United States, where she would receive wealth, elegant clothing, technology capable of controlling her powers, and a completely new life. In return, she would have only one responsibility: enroll as a student at Xavier's Institute, gain the trust of its teachers, and locate the mutant Scott Summers. Once she accomplished that task, Essex assured her that he would take care of everything else.

the hand's hidden weapon

Now operating under Nathaniel Essex's direction, Natsu has traveled to the United States to infiltrate Xavier's Institute as one of its students. Equipped with technology intended to control her unstable optic abilities and carrying the emotional scars of her mother's death, she hides her true mission behind the appearance of a young mutant seeking refuge.

While the school believes she is another student searching for acceptance and control over her powers, Natsu's true objective is to get close to the faculty, identify Scott Summers' location, and provide that information to Essex. Her future—and the success of the conspiracy surrounding Xavier's Institute—now depends on maintaining her cover while living among the very people she has been sent to betray.
