Biography

Early Life

Amadeus Cho displayed extraordinary intelligence from an early age, entering high school at just twelve years old. The son of Korean immigrants, his parents struggled financially and could not afford to continue supporting his education in the United States. Hoping his talents could provide a better future, Amadeus competed on the televised academic competition Brain Wave, a program designed for exceptionally gifted children.

His remarkable performance, during which he answered multiple questions consecutively without error, earned him the title of "Brawn of the Game" and a cash prize of $200,000. However, the competition concealed a far more sinister purpose. The program was secretly operated by the Arcade Corporation under billionaire Edward Acra, who used the show to identify and recruit—or exploit—young geniuses.

Soon after his victory, Amadeus and his family became the targets of harassment and threats. The situation escalated when Acra's mercenaries invaded their home, only to be stopped by the Incredible Hulk. The Hulk destroyed part of the house while defeating the attackers and capturing several of them.

Later that same day, Professor Bruce Banner arrived alongside government agents to apologize for the destruction. Banner revealed that the incident had been part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. operation aimed at exposing and dismantling Edward Acra's criminal organization, which was responsible for human trafficking, kidnapping, and torture. Realizing his intelligence had placed him at the center of a dangerous conspiracy, Amadeus developed a fascination with the Hulk that would define the rest of his life.

Over the following years, he devoted himself to documenting, cataloging, and scientifically studying Gamma Mutates. His goal became creating a stable, controllable version of gamma radiation that could reproduce the Hulk's extraordinary physiology without its unpredictability.

Amadeus's research is now focused on synthetically replicating Gamma physiology. His studies led him to theorize the existence of what he calls the Gamma Core, a concentration of gamma energy formed at the location where radiation first enters a victim's body. According to his research, this energy manifests through powerful physical transformations triggered by a temperamental trigger, which can be linked to emotions such as anger, envy, greed, ambition, and the desire for power.

Knowing that pride is his own greatest flaw, Amadeus deliberately conditioned that emotion to activate his transformations. He engineered a synthetic Gamma Core, installing it within a specialized belt that emits gamma radiation throughout his body, allowing him to undergo controlled Hulk transformations. To safely regulate the excess energy, he also developed a synthetic transformer staff, an apparatus that channels gamma energy into powerful blasts while functioning primarily as a release valve to prevent dangerous radiation buildup.

Unlike Bruce Banner, Amadeus considers becoming the Hulk not a curse but an enormous responsibility. Nearly a year has passed since the original Hulk disappeared without a trace, leaving the Avengers for longer than ever before. While the Registration Act and the approaching Civil War dominate the world's attention, Amadeus remains focused on a different mission. Believing that history still needs a Hulk willing to confront evil without compromise or indifference, he has accepted that responsibility himself, determined to fight on the side of justice.
