Biography

Early Life

After abandoning college to dedicate himself entirely to becoming the best version of Spider-Man, Peter Parker eventually returned to complete his studies.

By then, Peter had become disillusioned with the idea of mentorship after several disastrous experiences with authority figures such as Miles Warren, Curt Connors, and Norman Osborn. He had even sworn that he would quit college again.

That changed when he met Professor Otto Octavius.

Otto completely changed Peter's perception of teaching. He was a genuinely inspiring professor who wanted nothing but the best for his students, and his guidance gave Peter the motivation he needed to push through his studies and finally graduate.

Otto was already an accomplished scientist with an impressive résumé, eventually earning his second Nobel Prize during this period of his life.

He also suffered from a chronic illness that would gradually paralyze his limbs. At this stage, he already relied on a wheelchair for mobility, yet his condition did not prevent him from continuing his scientific career.

After Peter graduated, Otto accepted his invitation to speak at F.E.A.S.T., where May Parker was organizing a gathering of renowned professionals living with disabilities.

It was during this period that May and Otto began a relationship. The two eventually revealed to Peter that they intended to marry early the following year.

At the time, Peter saw Otto as one of the people who had helped keep him on the right path, alongside May.

The hidden Agenda

Despite the apparent sincerity of his relationship with May, Otto had another reason for becoming involved with the Parker family.

The relationship had been initiated primarily so that he could get closer to Peter Parker.

Otto believed that a scientist of his caliber had no reason to limit himself to a position as a professor at Columbia University when he could instead be developing weapons of devastating power for the American government.

He also harbored a deep hatred for Norman Osborn, whom he considered incapable of recognizing genuine technological advancement.

The Sinister Six

Otto operated from the shadows while coordinating a much larger criminal operation.

Miles Warren considered himself Otto's right-hand man, but Otto regarded him as disposable. Warren had become fascinated by the technology Otto had placed in his hands without truly understanding how to manage it.

Otto also provided Warren with Parker's genetic material for analysis.

The Sinister Six were another component of his plan. Otto believed they were nothing more than pieces on a board, incapable of overcoming Spider-Man without careful planning and coordination.

Under Otto's command, however, their schemes allowed them to become the owners of some of New York's greatest fortunes built through crime.

Spider-Man Body

Otto had analyzed data obtained from the radioactive spider that had bitten Peter Parker.

His research revealed that Peter possessed genetic potential originating outside this world. According to Oscorp's records, the spider itself had not come from this universe.

For Otto, Peter's unusual biology represented something far more valuable than scientific curiosity.

He considered himself the most advanced mind in the world, while regarding Spider-Man as the most advanced body of his species.

Because of his illness, Otto knew that it was only a matter of time before his condition progressed to the point where his body could no longer carry out his will.

He therefore became obsessed with the possibility of possessing Peter's body.

If he could have a body like Peter Parker's, Otto believed he would become far superior.

The Mastermind

While Spider-Man remained distracted by his routine adventures, Doctor Octopus continued to operate from the shadows.

His plans extended across New York, with the Sinister Six and other players serving as pieces in a carefully coordinated operation.

When Carnage was created at Seagate Prison, his rampage was another part of Otto's meticulously planned timetable, designed to keep Spider-Man occupied while the larger operation continued to unfold.
