Biography

Early Life

Adrian Toomes became known as the founder of Vulture's Way, an underground online marketplace created to import advanced weaponry into the United States. Toomes presented himself on internet forums as a staunch libertarian, arguing that the global market should operate without government interference and that politics and commerce should remain separate.

Vulture's Way eventually expanded far beyond its original scope. Its defining feature was an international delivery network capable of transporting goods almost anywhere in the world. These deliveries were carried out by winged operatives known as "Vultures," who used advanced flight suits and sophisticated security systems.

The operation eventually attracted the attention of international law enforcement. Interpol located Adrian Toomes in Manhattan, apparently while he was making another delivery. He was subsequently arrested by the authorities.

Despite his connection to Vulture's Way, Toomes was released after successfully arguing that, although he had created the website, he no longer controlled its operations. He instead directed investigators toward a younger generation of successors who were independently operating the marketplace around the world, including Brenda Drago, Clifton Shallot, and Jimmy Natale.

Adrian Toomes later returned to Manhattan for Oscorp's upcoming international convention. His presence in the city attracted Spider-Man's attention because of the apparent connection between Vulture's Way and Oscorp.

During the night, Spider-Man observed the luxury apartment complex that Norman Osborn had rented for the Oscorp delegates. A winged man landed on Norman's balcony, left behind a reinforced metal crate, and immediately took off at incredible speed. Spider-Man's Spider-Sense warned him to keep his distance, as a security system appeared to activate around the container.

The only identifiable marking on the crate was the name "Vulture's Way." The incident confirmed that the marketplace's operations remained active despite Adrian Toomes' claim that he no longer controlled them.

Toomes remained in New York while the younger successors continued operating Vulture's Way independently around the world. His presence at the Oscorp international convention placed him once again near the center of Spider-Man's investigation into the organization.

Later, Vulture became one of several familiar enemies apparently coordinating their activities against Spider-Man. Mysterio, Sandman, Electro, Scorpion, Vulture, and a mysterious figure operating from the shadows began launching synchronized attacks designed to keep Spider-Man occupied while maximizing their own profits.
