Biography

Early Life

Michael Morbius was born in Greece and developed an exceptional reputation within the scientific community. He was described in old newspaper articles as a Greek prodigy who had been born with a rare blood disease.

Despite the severity of the condition, Morbius eventually became a renowned researcher with an impressive academic background. By the time he became involved with the Life Foundation, his original illness no longer appeared to affect him.

The circumstances surrounding his childhood, education, family, and the development of his condition are not documented.

Chief Scientist of the Life Foundation

By the time Spider-Man began investigating the Life Foundation, Michael Morbius had become its chief scientist.

The Foundation operated multiple research facilities, maintaining at least three separate sites in order to prevent the exposure of its entire operation. Its research included advanced biological experimentation and a cybernetic enhancement program.

One of these facilities was eventually shut down after suffering a major chemical leak. Spider-Man used the opportunity to infiltrate the site, with Captain Jean DeWolff discreetly covering his entry.

Inside Morbius' office, Peter Parker discovered extensive documentation concerning the Foundation's experiments, including Morbius' personal research journals.

Cyber-Vampire Physiology

Morbius' journals revealed that his body had undergone a profound biological transformation.

Beneath an artificial layer of synthetic skin, Morbius possessed a vampiric mechanism capable of extracting blood through injector fangs concealed within his jaw. The extracted blood was then pumped directly into his body.

Rather than feeding upon living civilians, Morbius obtained his blood from corpses.

The Life Foundation secretly operated an autopsy center within the facility, receiving bodies transported from New York's funeral homes. These corpses served as the source of blood that Morbius required to sustain his altered physiology.

His condition therefore remained closely tied to the scientific operations of the Life Foundation, while his artificial skin concealed the true nature of his body from the outside world.

Agent Venom Program

The discovery of the symbiote samples ultimately brought Morbius' research under the authority of the United States government.

After Norman Osborn, now President of the United States, officially dissolved the Life Foundation, he quietly transferred its scientific personnel into the United States Department of Defense.

Morbius remained involved, becoming the supervisor of the former Life Foundation research team.

Under his direction, the scientists developed an antigen capable of placing the symbiote under the complete control of its host.

The purpose of the research was to determine whether Venom's abilities could be controlled and reproduced as a government weapon. If successful, the United States would possess its own super-soldier.

The government selected Flash Thompson as the subject.

Morbius' research consequently became a fundamental part of the classified Project Agent Venom, transforming the scientific discoveries of the Life Foundation into a military program.
