Early Life

Kraven Kravinoff established himself as a hunter of extraordinary prey. Throughout his career, he hunted some of the world's greatest beasts as well as the strongest men alive.

His reputation as a hunter eventually brought him to New York, where his attention turned toward a new kind of prey.

The document does not provide information about Kraven's childhood, family, education, nationality, or the specific events that led him to become a hunter.

The Hunt of Spider-Man

By 1999, Kraven had become Silver Sablinova's target.

Silver, a Symkarian super-soldier enhanced through advanced cybernetic implants and operating in the United States as an agent specializing in hunting war criminals and international fugitives, believed that Kraven was hiding somewhere in New York.

Her pursuit placed Kraven directly within the growing conflict surrounding Spider-Man and the Life Foundation. Peter Parker suspected that Silver's mission involved more than simply hunting the fugitive, believing she was also searching for the symbiote specimen that had disappeared in 1983 and eventually bonded with Spider-Man.

The Hunter Last Hunt

Kraven eventually turned his attention toward Peter Parker.

He succeeded in defeating Spider-Man and dragged him to a deep grave, burying him along with his dreams. Kraven then removed the strange symbiote suit from Peter's body.

The organism behaved more like living gel than ordinary clothing. Kraven placed it over himself, allowing the symbiote to transform his appearance into a reflection of Spider-Man.

Through its eyes and beneath its living surface, Kraven became everything he had observed about Spider-Man over the previous five years.

For the first time, the hunter became the prey.

Kraven swung through New York's skyline, experiencing the freedom of Spider-Man's abilities. He effortlessly scaled walls and observed criminals as he believed Spider-Man would, before dealing with them according to his own brutal philosophy.

During that night, New York's criminal underworld encountered a version of Spider-Man unlike the one they knew: a ruthless figure who attacked criminals with extreme violence.

After his hunt was complete, Kraven turned his attention toward Felicia Hardy's apartment.

He entered her home while wearing the symbiote and hid beneath her bed before approaching her. Kraven suspected that Felicia immediately understood that the person beneath the symbiote was not Peter Parker. Nevertheless, she chose to indulge the illusion for one night.

The Hunter becomes the Hunted

While Kraven was living through his final hunt, Peter Parker's superhuman physiology allowed him to overcome the effects of the sedative used against him.

Buried alive, Peter broke through his coffin and forced his way through the earth until he escaped the grave.

The following morning, Spider-Man returned to the cemetery.

There, Kraven stood before him.

For Kraven, the mission had been completed. He had finally experienced life from the perspective of the prey, and he credited Spider-Man for giving him that experience.

He then drew a revolver from beneath the symbiote suit and ended his own life.

Peter reclaimed the symbiote and buried Kraven in the cemetery. The gravestone identified him as both the Hunter and the Hunted.

Kraven's death became the final event of his hunt for Spider-Man.

The visit to the grave

Kraven's death did not immediately end the consequences of his final hunt.

Shortly afterward, an old friend arrived at his grave. The sorceress Calypso knelt beside the freshly disturbed earth, remaining there long enough to carry out a purpose of her own.

She whispered:

"Dìde, morlun mi; ìṣe-ọdẹ rẹ ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ bẹ̀rẹ̀ ni."

With Kraven buried beneath the cemetery, Calypso's arrival marked the last recorded event surrounding the hunter's grave.
