Alongise the Masters

Though she was only nineteen, Wanda quickly learned to navigate manipulation with cunning of her own. While Zemo used her in his schemes, Wanda devised a way to turn his control into her advantage. She allowed herself to be cast as the victim so that when the Avengers eventually confronted Zemo, she could appear desperate and repentant, worthy of their protection.

When the Avengers stormed Zemo’s control room, they found her weeping, her master defeated, her spirit seemingly broken. The truth was more complex. Wanda had orchestrated her escape through performance and pain alike, and the Avengers believed her story. Moved by her apparent innocence and potential, they offered her a place among them. In that moment, Wanda seized the opportunity to align herself with something greater. She joined the Avengers not just as a way to survive, but as a step toward redemption and belonging. 

As an Avenger

Her time with the Avengers opened doors to truths about her past. Wanda’s origins had always been uncertain, her family lost to contradictory records and shadows. It was through spectral communication with Anya Lensherr that she learned more of her heritage, of a father whose identity carried a dark and complex legacy, and of the truth about her brother Pietro, whose life she had once helped steer away from crime. Yet Wanda rejected Magneto’s attempts at reconciliation, preferring instead to walk her own path rather than be bound by another’s ideology. In time, she even found a new place for her brother, working within government service, though the questions about their identity were never fully at rest.

Wanda discovers that she and her brother had never actually met before. In fact, Pietro grew up with a Romani family in an isolated community in Transia, unlike Wanda, who was raised in an orphanage. Even so, her powers manifested during sleep and allowed the two children to grow up together, even though they were separated. 

Meeting Agatha

Seeking deeper answers, Wanda returned to Herbert Wyndham’s Sanatorium, but this time she found not a manipulator, but a teacher. There she encountered Agatha Harkness, a sorceress of great power who revealed to her the truth of her mystical nature. Wanda was not only a mutant, but also part of an ancient lineage tied to the Scarlet Witch, a vessel of chaos magic itself, linked to the dark entity Chthon. Under Agatha’s mentorship, Wanda trained to harness her powers, struggling to balance the destructive potential of chaos magic with the hope of using it for good. Her studies were plagued by visions and whispers, by strange cults invoking the “Emerald Warlock,” and by constant reminders that her life was intertwined with forces far older and more dangerous than she had ever imagined.

Meeting Vision

Amid this turmoil, Wanda found something she had never truly experienced: love. After the fall of Ultron, a new being came into existence—the synthezoid Vision. Though created from Simon Williams’ body and Ultron’s design, Vision was his own person, thoughtful and searching for humanity. Many of the Avengers distrusted him at first, but Wanda saw in him something familiar: an outsider longing for acceptance. Their bond grew quietly, steadily, until it became undeniable. Wanda told Vision that she was pregnant with Simon Williams's children before his death. The synthezoid understood the situation and was happy for his partner, deciding to raise the children of his former identity with her.

The Pregnancy

Wanda and Vision took a break from the Avengers for a while to take care of the last months of the pregnancy. They chose Wundagore, Wanda’s birthplace, where they were welcomed into a secluded mansion owned by Agatha Harkness. Agatha became confidante, midwife, and godmother, guiding Wanda through her pregnancy while shielding the couple from the outside world. For nearly a year, Wanda and Vision experienced a fragile happiness. Strange, supernatural disturbances occurred in the quiet village, but they were resolved in secret, allowing Wanda to live not as an Avenger or a weapon, but simply as a woman preparing to become a mother. 

However, the couple's peace didn't last long. Agatha Harkness contacted her former student and stated that a terrible evil was approaching the children.

The calm shattered on the night of the birth. The agony of labor unleashed Wanda’s uncontrolled power, triggering devastating natural disasters across Eastern Europe. Vision was forced to act openly as a hero to protect civilians, while only Wanda and Agatha remained inside the mansion—no longer a family, but the Scarlet Witch and her one-woman coven. When the twins were finally born, the truth revealed itself in horror: Agatha’s body was possessed by Chthon, the elder god of chaos. 

The Choice

Chthon claimed the children as his own. He revealed that the twins were the fulfillment of an ancient promise: Pietro and Wanda themselves had once been offered to him in a secret pact meant to preserve the Scarlet Witch’s lineage, a pact later betrayed by the fallen Coven of Chaos. Now, he demanded what he was owed. He offered Wanda a cruel choice—she could keep one child, and in return he would claim the other and never return. A new pact between mother and demon.  

Wanda refused. In an act of absolute defiance, she unleashed the full force of her power to banish Chthon from the dimension, even knowing the cost. In the final ritual, Agatha’s body succumbed to the Scarlet Witch’s magic, and the newborn twins turned cold and lifeless, shattering like stone as Chthon revoked their souls. In Wanda’s mind, she had only tried to protect them.
