MAJOR MARVEL (Earth-7)

Carol Danvers, also known as Major Marvel, is a hero split between two identities: a S.H.I.E.L.D. officer from Earth and a warrior forcibly shaped by the Kree Empire. Marked by personal tragedies, alien experiments, and mental manipulation, her life has been a constant battle to recover her own memories and define who she truly is. From the skies of Massachusetts to cosmic wars, Carol became a symbol of resistance, surviving loss, mind control, and war to assert her identity—not just as a soldier, but as Major Marvel.

Biography

Early Life

Carol Danvers was born in Massachusetts, the daughter of a decorated colonel and a landscape designer. Her childhood was marked by pain: her mother died young, and doctors said the cause was AIDS. Carol was only nine. The shock also destroyed her father's life; he left his military career and sank into alcoholism. This environment led Carol to seek discipline and meaning elsewhere: the Air Force.

Her determination and talent led her to become a major and, eventually, to receive an invitation to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. as an honorary agent. On a reconnaissance mission, Carol led a team to investigate an unidentified object that had crashed in Finland. What seemed like a routine operation became a turning point in her life: inside the wrecked ship, she found Mar-Vell, a Kree prisoner of war.

As a Kree

Mar-Vell revealed that he was considered a traitor among the Kree, as he had led revolutions against his people's dictatorship. He possessed extraordinary powers and asked for Carol's help to escape. But before she could act, Kree soldiers attacked. The confrontation resulted in an explosion in the ship's reactor. All the human agents died, except for Carol. At the last moment, Mar-Vell used his abilities to transfer his powers to her, saving her from death but leaving her in a vegetative state.

The Kree took her, unconscious, to their home world, where they rewrote her mind. Her true thoughts and memories were erased, replaced by a fabricated identity: Vers-Uss, the first woman to lead a Starforce team. To Kree society, she was an icon of resilience—a red-skinned warrior, a symbol of the fight against prejudice on Hala. Trained under Yon-Rogg, with Minn-Erva as her squadmate, Vers-Uss achieved recognition by mastering her abilities to absorb and redirect energy.

But this life was not her own. Vers-Uss believed she was the daughter of Kree history, the wife of Marc-Uss, and the mother of a son she would never see grow up. In reality, she was Carol Danvers, living a lie created by the Empire to use her as a weapon of war. For years, she served as the spearhead of Kree expansion, destroying entire systems and civilizations.

Return to Earth

Fragments of memory, however, began to surface. Each time Carol remembered pieces of her previous life, she was subjected to new brainwashing processes. This weakened her mind, but it also planted a doubt that could never be erased. Finally, after one of these breakthroughs, she managed to escape, fleeing Hala and finding S.H.I.E.L.D. on Earth again.

Her return was not simple. Nick Fury and other agents knew as little about Carol as she did herself. Her mind, deeply damaged by years of manipulation, left her caught between false memories and real lapses. Under the guidance of psychiatrist Karla Sofen, Carol began a strict treatment with medication and routines to try and rebuild her identity. Sofen warned her against returning to public life, fearing that her psyche couldn't handle it. But Carol resisted: she still wanted to fight; she still believed in her role as a hero.

After recovering some of her memories, Carol embraced a new name—Major Marvel—a symbol of the fusion of her two lives: the American major and the warrior shaped by the Kree Empire. As Major Marvel, she took on the identity that connected her to both Earth and space, not as a victim of manipulation, but as someone who chose who she wanted to be.
