Early Life
Phyla-Vell is the daughter of Mar-Vell and Elysius, created through the genetic material stored within the Kree artifacts known as the Nega Bands. After Mar-Vell’s retirement and eventual death, Elysius used this preserved essence to give life to a new generation, first creating Genis-Vell, and later Phyla-Vell herself.
Born into a legacy of cosmic responsibility, Phyla inherited not only immense power, but also the expectations tied to the mantle of Captain Marvel. However, despite wielding the same bracelets and possessing the same potential, she refused to assume the title, believing her path should not be defined solely by her father’s name.
Denying the legacy
Unlike those before her, Phyla-Vell chose to forge a new identity. Taking on the name Martyr, she embraced a role shaped by conviction rather than inheritance. Her journey became one of balance—between her father’s ideals of ending the Kree Empire tyranny, her brother’s vision of universal peace, and her own burning desire to deliver justice.
