The true origin of this creature is unknown, but the Legionnaires have speculated about it. The leading theory is that he is a being beyond time, who was forgotten due to his immortality and immense power, and thus found himself at the far reaches of the universe, alone, and assuming a new identity of his own choosing.
Furthermore, it is known that he hates the Legion of Super-Heroes; it is unclear whether this is due to their ideals or their origin, but he claims that they stem from a serious paradoxical distortion that must be prevented—even though he has never succeeded in doing so, or at least does not know how.

It is known that this figure is nothing more than a timeless shadow, capable of manifesting itself in any era or age, yet it harbors a certain fascination with the End of Time—from which it originated—and an obsession with the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Over time, the group of stellar heroes discovered that the origin of the United Planets conglomerate is actually related to the creature. It is believed that the Time Trapper was responsible for providing the temporal distortion technology used by the state, and that he was the one who imposed the rules regarding what could and could not be done with that technology.
Consequently, certain older members of the interplanetary council seem to be eternally grateful to the creature, while others even secretly worship it.
Its morality may extend beyond good and evil, but deep down there is certainly an unyielding hatred, a complete loathing for hope and the future. A secret that can never be revealed.
