KING SHARK (EARTH-7)

Half god, half predator, he walks the line between instinct and identity. To some, he is nothing more than a monster of the deep… but there is something older flowing through his blood.

Biography

Early Life

Nanaue, widely known as King Shark, is the son of Lord Chondrakha, an ancient Hawaiian deity revered as the king of all sharks, and a human woman. His father, also called Kamo, is not merely a myth, but an immense and immortal force of nature, a god whose dominion extends over all sharks and whose essence serves as the source of Nanaue’s extraordinary demigod abilities.

Yet Nanaue’s birth was not a blessing, but the result of divine conflict and betrayal.

According to legend, Chondrakha incurred the wrath of the sorceress Tala through his own treachery. In response, and perhaps as both punishment and declaration of power, he cursed his own child before or at the moment of birth. Rather than inheriting a balanced form between human and god, Nanaue was marked by this curse, emerging into the world with the full, unmistakable appearance of a shark.

This act defined the course of his existence.

From the beginning, Nanaue was neither accepted as human nor fully embraced as divine. His monstrous form isolated him, while his inherited power made him feared. Possessing immense strength, heightened durability, regenerative capabilities, and a natural affinity with the ocean, he embodied both the majesty and terror of the sea. At the same time, his mind retained the capacity for thought, language, and even emotion, creating a constant internal struggle between reason and instinct.

This duality shaped his early life, as he was forced to navigate a world that saw him only as a creature, while he himself grappled with what he truly was: a cursed son of a god, bound to a form he never chose.

The imprisonment

As Nanaue grew, so did the consequences of his nature. His predatory instincts, combined with his immense power, made it increasingly difficult for him to coexist with the surface world. Incidents involving violence and uncontrolled feeding eventually drew the attention of heroes and authorities, marking him as a significant threat.

One of the most defining moments of his trajectory occurred during an incident in Hawaii, where his actions escalated beyond containment. It was there that Buddy Baker, Animal Man was deployed on a mission to investigate and neutralize the situation. Understanding both the danger Nanaue represented and the unique nature of his existence, Animal Man engaged and ultimately subdued him.

Rather than being killed, Nanaue was taken into custody and transferred to the Coast City Prison Complex, a high-security facility designed to contain meta-human and superpowered individuals. This marked a turning point, shifting him from a roaming force of destruction into a controlled, albeit unstable, asset within a larger system.
