In: Suicide Squad

Amanda Waller (Earth-7)

When the situation is delicate, the government doesn't know what to do, and world's greatest heroes cannot be called upon, she is activated: the Wall — Amanda Waller. The only woman in the Senate capable of carrying out important missions without the public’s knowledge — and not even the heroes’.

Biography

Early Life
Amanda Belle Blake was a young American woman and a member of the African American revolutionary group Soul Power. In her youth, Amanda faced many battles and internal dilemmas, at times choosing the group over her own family in order to take part in the demonstrations in the city of Evergreen.

However, that life as a vigilante would not last long, as she eventually found peace with Joseph Waller, a fellow member of the group and Blake’s partner. The two fell deeply in love and decided to leave the movement together, bringing their time in Soul Power to an end.

The rebels would eventually marry after some time, having three children from their relationship: Damita Waller, Coretta Waller, and Jessie Waller. However, not everything would turn out to be perfect, as when the children of Waller and Blake reached their teenage years, a series of tragedies would begin to unfold.

Maternal Vengeance
While Domita was returning home from school, a so-called superhero known as The Protector was operating in the neighborhood, supposedly protecting Black citizens from white supremacists and drug cartels. During a confrontation with some local leaders, the hero caused a structural collapse that killed Waller’s daughter and several other children who happened to be passing by at the time. It ended her life in a way Amanda would never forget.

Government documents never clearly reveal the full details, but it is evident that Amanda destroyed the life of the person responsible for her daughter’s death. Evidence later suggested that the man had not truly been there to protect Black citizens, but rather to protect white interests and gradually deepen segregation in the area.

After Domita’s death, Amanda became a far more ruthless person and deeply opposed to masked vigilantes, placing them in the same category as the one who took away her most precious treasure. Soon afterward, another tragedy struck—her husband was murdered in front of her by former revolutionary partners who had now allied themselves with an extremist group led by William Heller.

Realizing that the violence around her would only continue to grow, Waller made an enormous sacrifice. She abandoned her role as a housewife and decided to run for mayor of Evergreen.

Secretary of Defense and Warden of Task Force X

Soon after becoming mayor and dismantling Heller’s extremist empire in the city, Amanda began working as the secretary to the state’s governor. Little by little, she earned enough of his trust to be appointed director of Belle Reve, one of the largest penitentiaries in America.

As time passed, Waller grew enough to propose to the U.S. Senate what would be her life's work, focused on reforming the American prison system and finding a way to unofficially resolve certain loose ends left by the country.: the reactivation of Task Force X. No longer composed of american soldiers, the program would now use villains and supervillains, forcing them to serve the country in black-ops missions.

In return, they could have their sentences reduced—otherwise, they would be considered traitors to the nation and executed.

It was this project that led Waller to the White House, and later to the position of Secretary of National Defense. This was only the beginning of her quest for morality, ethics, and justice.
