Biography 

Early Life

Harvey Dent began as Gotham’s district attorney, a bold young prosecutor who sought to dismantle the corruption and crime families suffocating the city. For a time, his crusade seemed unstoppable—he exposed mob leaders and rallied the justice system to stand firm.

However, his rise came to a violent end. In court, while pressing charges against mob boss Sal Maroni, the gangster hurled acid across Dent’s face, scarring him permanently. In the chaos that followed, Dent, in what was described as his last act of sanity, strangled a witness to death and collapsed into madness. The once-proud crusader was gone—Two-Face was born.

Consequences

 In the aftermath, Dent’s links to the serial killer Holiday came to light. He had exchanged letters with Holiday, sharing intelligence about the mafia. These correspondences may have enabled the orchestrated murders of the Falconi Family, executed in cold precision. His career destroyed, Dent also lost his marriage—his wife vanished—and Holiday, his partner in crime, disappeared as well. Alone, broken, and stripped of identity, Harvey embraced his darker persona.

 Holiday was later revealed to be his wife, Gilda Dent, but Batman was the only one to know about it, as he decided to spare her for here crimes and never tell the truth to Harvey.

As a Vigilante

Two-Face is defined by duality. His fractured psyche manifests as two faces of justice:

• Omission – the side that wallows in victimhood, blaming his monstrous counterpart for brutality, claiming to be the helpless half of Harvey.

• Penance – the sadistic half, blind yet merciless, executing violence with chilling precision. Despite his blindness, Penance never misses a shot, for Omission is always watching.

Together, these halves form an unpredictable and unfair justice system. Instead of law, Dent now relies on chance, flipping his infamous coin to decide the fate of his victims. If it lands on heads, survival comes at a price. If tails, death is certain.
